- בַּרְיוּתָאf. (v. בַּרְיוֹנָא) rebellion, defiance of the law. Sot.19b; 20a מחמת ב׳ (refusal to drink the searching water) in defiance, opp. רתיתא, ביעתותא, Targ. Prov. 25:20, prob. to be read בְּדִיחוּתָא; ed. Lag. כַּרְיוּתָא. The entire verse is a corrupt combination of two versions.
